Cheesy and Cracker Barrel Hashbrown Casserole

1. Cracker Barrel Hash Brown Casserole

I don’t know if there is a better combination than potatoes, cheese, and sour cream.

This trio works well in every form, but this hash brown recipe is extra special.

To be honest, I’d be happy with just those three ingredients. But like I said, this recipe is special!

You’ll also add onions, pepper, cream of chicken soup, and butter to make it creamy, rich, and impossible to resist.

Mexican Meat Casserole with Cheese and Corn

2. John Wayne Casserole

Believe it or not, this casserole recipe came straight from the man himself.

The story goes that John Wayne gave this recipe to the American Cancer Society to help raise money (though it didn’t contain meat).

All these years later, the layers of fluffy biscuits, ground beef, onions, green peppers, tomatoes, chilies, sour cream, and mayo are just as popular.

Crack Chicken Casserole Topped with Parsley

3. Crack Chicken Casserole

You may know this dish as “bacon, cheddar, ranch chicken,” and you may also know that it’s incredibly addictive.

It’s a tasty mix of sour cream, ranch, chicken, bacon, and cheddar cheese. Add some breadcrumbs for crunch, and you’ll understand how it got its name.

Creamy Tuna Noodle Casserole

French Toast Casserole with Blueberry Sauce

7. Blueberry French Toast Casserole

If you’re not too full from the potato casserole from dinner, you’ll have to try this terrific blueberry French toast casserole for breakfast!

This recipe is one of my all-time favorites because it includes sweet cream cheese, so it tastes like blueberry cheesecake.

The key to the best ever French toast casserole is to make it the night before and let it sit in the fridge overnight.

Taco Casserole

8. Easy Taco Casserole

Between the tortilla chips, cheese, and spicy ground beef, you could say this dish is like an overloaded tray of nachos.

It has all the same great flavors and superb crunch, and you can scatter over some corn and chopped jalapeños to finish.

Serve it with a big bowl of Chipotle guacamole and plenty of napkins.

Cheesy chicken spaghetti casserole in baking dish

9. Chicken Spaghetti Casserole

Here’s another quick weeknight meal you can whip up with leftovers you have in your kitchen.

Chicken Spaghetti casserole is everything you love about pasta night, and so much more!

It pairs tender chicken with spaghetti noodles and veggies in an irresistible cheesy sauce.

Chicken and Potato Casserole

Nothing goes together better than chicken and potatoes! This hardy casserole pairs two family favorites, but it doesn’t stop there!

With so much cheese and bacon bits on top, it’s sure to be a new weeknight staple in your household.

It’s like the world’s best baked potato in casserole form!

Cowboy Meatloaf on a White Plate

11. Cowboy Meatloaf and Potato Casserole

This cowboy casserole is kind of like America’s answer to Shepherd’s pie.

There’s a layer of ground meat on the bottom and creamy mashed potatoes on the top.

It’s seasoned with BBQ sauce and chili powder, hence the ‘Cowboy’ in the title.

Serve it for Sunday night dinner, and you won’t have leftovers for Monday.

Cheesy Homemade Cheeseburger Casserole

12. Cheeseburger Casserole

This casserole is ultra-cheesy, full of ground beef, and super hearty, thanks to the pasta.

You could actually make two meals with this if you double up on the beef-filling ingredients.

Use half for this and half to make Cowboy Casserole!

Hamburger Hashbrown Casserole

13. Hamburger Hashbrown Casserole

Hamburger Hashbrown Casserole is one of those quick and easy dinner dishes the whole family will devour.

Think of it as a cross between a breakfast hash and a cheeseburger. Is your mouth watering yet?

It all comes together in a rich sauce made with cream of mushroom soup that makes this dish insanely filling!

Chicken Noodle Casserole

14. Chicken Noodle Casserole

Chicken noodle soup is great, but this chicken noodle casserole is even better!

It pairs all the comfort food classics like chicken, noodles, and hearty veggies in a thick and cheesy cream sauce.

The best part is the buttery Ritz cracker topping that adds a nice crispy crust.

15. Bisquick Breakfast Casserole

Starting your day off with a big breakfast is ideal if you want enough energy to make it to lunch.

Unfortunately, we don’t always have time to make a batch of pancakes or French toast.

If you make this sausage and hash brown casserole the night before, you can have a full belly in less than 45 minutes.

Tater Tot Casserole

16. Tater Tot Casserole Recipe

Of all the casserole recipes on this list, I think this is the one I make most often.

And after one bite, I’m confident you’ll add it to your weekly meal menu, too.

Tater tots are beloved by kids and a guilty pleasure of most adults, so you know this will be devoured in no time.

Tots are also pretty cheap, which means this casserole is nice and hearty, but light on your wallet.

Amish Country Casserole

17. Amish Country Casserole

Amish Country Casserole is the perfect budget-friendly meal that fills a large crowd.

When I say fills a crowd, I mean it! This dish is incredibly filling- one slice will leave you too stuffed for dessert.

It pairs chewy egg noodles, ground beef, and all the right spices in a rich tomato base.

18. Amish Breakfast Casserole Recipe

While we’re on the topic of Amish recipes, let’s check out this Amish Breakfast Casserole!

Loaded with sweet onions, bacon, hash browns, and cottage cheese, this is one hefty breakfast.

It’s protein-rich and super flavorful. And you can even add to it if you like!

I like it with diced jalapeños and roasted cherry tomatoes. Yum!

Million Dollar Chicken Casserole

19. Million-Dollar Chicken Casserole

Wondering how this one got its name?

20. Chicken and Biscuit Casserole

Chicken and Biscuit Casserole belongs in the comfort food Hall of Fame.

Creamy and Crispy Hobo Casserole

21. Hobo Casserole

Hobo Casserole is one of those super-filling meals that require only a few pantry staples.

All you need is some ground beef, potatoes, milk, cream of mushroom soup, and American cheese to whip up this hearty meal.

Oh, and don’t forget those crispy fried onions on top! They’re the best part.

Cheesy Runza casserole slice served on a white plate.

22. Runza Casserole

If you’ve never heard of Runza Casserole before, you’re in for a real treat!

This Midwestern classic pairs all the best comfort foods: ground beef, cabbage, and oh-so-much cheese.

The best part is that crescent roll crust. Think of it as Nebraska’s take on a chicken pot pie!

Taco Meat Casserole with Tomatoes and Cheese

23. Walking Taco Casserole Recipe

Tacos might be “walking” food, but casserole?

This recipe gets its name from the fact you can make up the components and then serve it right in a bag of Fritos.

Of course, if you want to serve it for dinner, a casserole dish would work just as well.

Apple Butternut Squash Casserole

24. Apple Butternut Squash Casserole

Just looking at the picture for this recipe gets me excited!

This casserole has everything I love about fall and more, including roasted squash, crisp apples, sage and thyme, peppery red onion, and lovely warm spices.

It’s also covered with a delicious pecan and bacon top.

Yellow squash potatoes with crumbly toppings.

25. Southern Squash Casserole

I’m not sure why, but I never buy summer squash.

I think I mostly gravitate towards zucchini and butternut, which is a shame because this stuff is so sunny!

Other than corn, this might be the brightest dish on the list.

Yellow squash tastes just like zucchini, and the two are pretty much interchangeable.

Homemade Hearty and Creamy Ham and Potato Casserole

26. Ham, Cheese, and Potato Casserole

I love this recipe for so many reasons.

First, it’s a terrific way to use up leftover ham from the holidays. So you don’t have to worry about anything going to waste.

Better yet, it’s a mild, meaty side dish you can serve with anything. But it’s hearty enough to be a main course on its own.

Dorito Chicken Casserole

27. Dorito Casserole

Everyone get’s a little excited when Dorito Casserole is on the menu!

This Mexican-inspired Casserole dish pairs ground beef, taco seasoning, cheese, and tomatos.

The real star is the crushed Dorito crust that bakes to crunchy perfection in the oven.

Chili Dog Casserole

28. Chili Dog Casserole

Dare I say this Chili Dog Casserole is better than an actual chili dog?

It combines hog dogs with chili sauce, cheese, and a tender cornbread topping.

You can whip this casserole up in under an hour, and it’s sure to be a big hit with the family at dinnertime.

Pepperoni Pizza Casserole

29. Pepperoni Pizza Casserole

I love pizza, but societal norms suggest we shouldn’t have it every day.

This might not be pizza, but it has all the same flavors, which should be enough to fool your tastebuds!

With tender egg noodles, a jar of pizza sauce, and plenty of pepperoni, you can give your local pizza place the night off.

Cabbage Casserole

30. Cabbage Casserole

Think of Cabbage Casserole as cabbage rolls without all the work. Win-win!

This recipe combines ground beef, hearty seasoning, and cabbage in a buttery cream of mushroom sauce.

The best part is the butter cracker and cheese topping.

Italian Sausage Breakfast with Bread and Broccoli

31. Italian Sausage Breakfast Casserole

Bulk Italian sausage is available in most supermarkets these days, and you can usually find it at the butcher counter, too.

When it’s cooked, it’s a lot like ground beef; only it has the seasonings mixed in already.

I’ve also made this using frozen sausage patties, which I broke up with a wooden spoon.

Similarly, you can buy regular sausages and simply remove the casings.

This is an excellent option if you want to use something different, like chicken sausage.

Sweet Potato Casserole with Pecan Nuts

32. Sweet Potato Casserole

Sweet potato casserole works well with chicken, turkey, pork, and beef.

It’s savory yet sweet, with a lovely pecan crunch topping that would even taste great with some flaky fish.

Since mashed sweet potato freezes well, I recommend making a big batch and storing what you don’t use away for another day.

That way, you’ll have it ready to go next time you need a quick casserole or side dish.

Sausage and Rice Casserole

33. Sausage and Rice Casserole

No one will go to bed hungry when this Sausage and Rice Casserole is on the menu!

You can add whatever type of sausage strikes your fancy, and pair it with tender rice, veggies, and cheese.

Green Bean Casserole with Fried Onions

36. Campbell’s Green Bean Casserole

Green beans can be a hard sell to some kids, so finding recipes that make them more exciting is essential.

In this dish, you’ll make a creamy mushroom sauce using soup (use chicken if you like), as well as adding crispy onions to the top.

How could they resist?

Homemade Barilla Lasagna

37. Barilla Lasagna

Lasagna is hearty, warm, and full of nostalgia, but it can also take a long time to prep if you make everything from scratch.

Using store-bought marinara will take all the guesswork out of the meat sauce, and all you need to do is mix in the beef or pork.

The cheese layer is also nice and straightforward. Instead of making cheese sauce, you’ll blend ricotta with mozzarella, Parmigiano-Reggiano, and eggs.

Poppy Seed Chicken Casserole

38. Poppy Seed Chicken Casserole

Poppy Seed Chicken Casserole is sweet, savory, and creamy with a delightful crunchy crust.

Adding poppy seeds to this dish adds a layer of nuttiness to this dish, and takes the flavors over the top.

The layer of Ritz crackers on top adds a nice buttery crunch, and this casserole doesn’t sbeautyevalp on the cheese!

Big Mac Casserole

39. Big Mac Casserole

I hope you’re sitting down for this one. Big Mac casserole is one recipe you do not want to sleep on. I think it’s even better than an actual Big Mac!

Why? Because it includes tater tots in the mix.

Add in beef, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, and sesame seeds, and say hello to your family’s new favorite meal!

Cheesy Baked Ziti Pasta with Tomato Sauce

41. Baked Ziti

Baked ziti is one of those casseroles you see at every potluck or family gathering.

It’s tasty, inexpensive, super easy to make, and people love it!

It’s especially kid-friendly because the sauce is very cheesy, unlike many pasta bakes that use more rich tomato sauces.

Broccoli Rice Casserole

42. Broccoli Rice Casserole

Broccoli Rice Casserole is a cheese lover’s dream come true!

It pairs earthy broccoli with tender rice, garlic, and oh-so-much cheese!

The best part is it only takes about 15 minutes to assemble, and 35 minutes in the oven.

44. Chicken Stuffing Casserole

This Butternut Squash Casserole is fall baking at its finest. It’s sweet, savory, and jam-packed with savory spices.

The brown sugar wafer topping brings it all together. It’s the best part!

Farmers Casserole

47. Farmer’s Casserole

Farmer’s Casserole is a perfect meal for your next potluck, or when you need a quick meal to feed a hungry crowd.

The pairing of protein-rich eggs with chopped ham and cheese binds in the oven for a punch of salty flavors in every bite.

You can throw it together in just 10 minutes, and it takes just 45 minutes in the oven.

 Carrot Casserole with Cheesy Sauce

48. Carrot Casserole

Carrot Casserole is enough to turn skeptics into carrot converts!

It’s so rich and buttery thanks to a generous portion of butter, cream of celery soup, and shredded cheddar cheese.
