Sweet Potato Casserole with Marshmallows

We all know traditional recipes like candied yams and sweet potato pie.

But have you ever tried sweet potato soufflé dip or marshmallow bars? You’re about to!

And like I said before, these canned sweet potato recipes are tasty all year long.

Though, of course, they’re perfect for the holidays. Enjoy!

Top 10 Canned Sweet Potato Recipes

1. Candied Yams

Buttery, covered in brown sugar, and containing just a hint of vanilla, candied yams are a great way to use canned sweet potatoes.

They’re soft, sweet, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious.

Most people serve them as side dishes, but they have enough sweetness to serve for dessert, as well.

2. Canned Sweet Potato Casserole with Marshmallows

When it comes to candied yams vs sweet potatoes in a casserole, there’s no competition.

Sweet potato casserole for the win!

Between the brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and maple syrup, this dish is a dream.

And thanks to the chopped pecans and marshmallows, it’s also pretty darn addictive.

It has sweetness, a hint of saltiness from the pecans, crunchiness, and soft fluffiness from the marshmallows. Perfect!

3. Sweet Potato Souffle Dip

Need something quick and delish? Try this sweet potato souffle dip.

You can easily make it in about 20 minutes, and it’s super yummy.

It has pecans, canned potatoes, brown sugar, cinnamon, allspice, and cream cheese.

Once you top it with the toasted marshmallow cream, it’s like a smaller, creamier, less complicated version of sweet potato casserole.

4. Sweet Potato Soup

The base of this creamy soup is canned sweet potatoes, chicken broth, and tart apples.

From there, you’ll add shallots, ginger, limes, red pepper flakes, olive oil, cayenne pepper, and salt. Sounds amazing, huh?

It takes about an hour to make, but there are only two steps to the recipe, so despite the lengthy time, it’s super easy.

5. Sweet Potato Biscuits

Sweet potato biscuits are a great addition to any table, not just because they taste fabulous but because they’re so pretty.

They’re more orange than buttermilk biscuits, and they add a lovely splash of color.

They’re somewhat sweet, so they taste best when served with honey butter, cinnamon butter, or some mild-flavored preserves.

They’re also pretty good when stuffed with a variety of Thanksgiving Day leftovers.

6. Sweet Potato Muffins

Sweet potato muffins are just as lovely and orange as sweet potato biscuits, but they’re even sweeter and spicier.

I like to add some chopped pecans or walnuts to mine.

The recipe also says you can add chocolate chips for a sweeter flavor, but I’ve never tried that. I’ll bet it’s to die for!

These, too, taste great with honey butter or cinnamon butter, especially when they’re fresh from the oven and warm enough to melt it.

7. Sweet Potato Cake

This gorgeous cake is perfect for fall, but as with all these other tasty recipes, you don’t have to wait for fall to arrive to make it.

For such a lovely, detailed cake, it doesn’t take as long to make as you might think.

Prep time is about 20 minutes, and cook time is approximately 25 minutes.

It’s moist, light, and fluffy, and it’s full of lots of great fall-themed spices, such as cinnamon, cardamom, and nutmeg.

You can frost it using any frosting you like, but the cinnamon cream cheese frosting listed in the recipe is ahhh-mazing.

8. Sweet Potato Marshmallow Bars

These soft, silky smooth bars are like little orange bites of heaven with roasted marshmallows on top. They’re also easy to make.

If you’re in a rush, you can buy pre-made pie crust, but it doesn’t take too much longer to make your own, and it tastes so much better.

If you want to add a little variety amongst all these sweet potatoes, you can adjust the recipe to use pumpkin puree instead.

They both taste excellent, though I prefer sweet potatoes.

9. Sweet Potato Brownies

Sweet potatoes, peanut butter, and chocolate? Yes, please!

This recipe puts a fall twist on the traditional brownie recipe, and it is delish!

These brownies are incredibly moist and have just the perfect amount of gooeyness.

They’re also vegan-friendly and can easily be made nut-free for those friends with nut allergies, as well.

These are a little more decadent than some of the other desserts on this list, but they are made with sweet potatoes.

So at least you’re getting a vegetable in there, right?

(That’s how I choose to look at it, anyway!)

10. Sweet Potato Pie

And last but certainly not least, we have one of the ultimate sweet potato desserts – sweet potato pie.

Most people have their own sweet potato pie recipes, but I like this one.

It takes a little over an hour to make, but most of that time is idle cook time.

All you’ll need to make it are sweet potatoes, butter, sugar, evaporated milk, eggs, pumpkin pie spice, vanilla, and just a dash of salt.

I’m not sure how such simple, everyday ingredients make something so delicious, but hey, I’m not complaining!
