21 Desserts That Start With G

There’s gingerbread, guava, and grapefruit, but how many other desserts that start with G can you name?

It’s not as easy as you think, right? Don’t worry; I’ve done the hard work, so you don’t have to.

Also, these treats go way beyond green smoothies!

I know they’re healthy and all, but I want something sweet and maybe even a little sinful!

With that in mind, I’ve found 21 delightful desserts that start with G, including some great grapes and groovy golden Oreos.

Let’s dig in!

Creamy Grape Salad

1. Trisha Yearwood Creamy Grape Salad Recipe

This grape salad is such a crowd-pleaser! It’s colorful, sweet, creamy, and has a fantastic crunch on top.

If you think it’s healthy because it’s called a salad, sorry to disappoint!

Between the cream cheese and sour cream, it’s more of a cheesecake mixed with grapes. And it’s so tasty!

Be sure to use a mix of green and red grapes, if you can, for a nice color contrast.

And feel free to add in some extra fruits! Strawberries would look and taste fabulous.

2. Easy Fruit Galette

My love for galettes stems from the fact that I’m kind of impatient.

As much as I love a good pie, sometimes, I want something more rustic!

This recipe is super quick, and you won’t have to worry about making it look perfect.

Just fold the pastry over and let the vibrant fruit do all the hard work.

Plus, if you use a store-bought pie dough, you can have this ready to go in minutes.

Just be sure to thaw and drain any frozen fruits, so it doesn’t go soggy!

3. Crispy Ginger Cookies

The crispy texture of these is such a nice change, and the subtle spice you get from the ginger is just perfect.

When these are cooked, you’ll be left with a nice crunch around the edges, but the middle will be lovely and chewy.

If you want them soft, just pull them out of the oven a few minutes early.

These look lovely on their own with the cracked top, or you could dip the end in white or dark chocolate for a bit of color.

4. Chocolate Ganache

Ganache is a silky smooth mix of chocolate and cream, and sometimes butter if you want it shiny.

Make it with extra chocolate if you want it to set – for truffles – or up the cream if you like it pourable and soft.

Just be sure you have good quality chocolate!

I like to add in some sea salt to mine for some pizzaz.

Or, I’ve been known to use caramel in place of cream for something extra special!

Chocolate Brownies with Chocolate Syrup

5. Ghirardelli Brownie Mix Recipe

If you’ve ever made brownies with cheap cocoa or chocolate, you’ll know that they’re not the best.

I’ll still eat the batch, but I’ll wish they were better!

For the best ever brownies with the most decadent chocolate flavor, you’ll need to use the best ingredients.

And what’s better than Ghirardelli chocolate?

The good news is, they make a box mix. It’s super simple and ready in minutes.

6. 5-Minute Grape Sorbet

If you’re looking for a summer treat that isn’t full of sugar – or dairy – you’ll have to try this!

Grapes are such an incredible little snack, and they’re popular with kids and grown-ups alike, after all.

All you’ll need to do is wash and freeze your grapes – skins and all – and then blitz them in a food processor.

Add a touch of sugar and lime juice, and it’s ready to eat right away.

7. Green Tea Ice Cream (No Machine)

Store-bought ice cream is no matcha for this homemade recipe 🙂

When buying matcha powder, be sure to go for something natural and organic, if possible.

You won’t want any nasty preservatives in there ruining the flavor.

For the base, it’s just a matter of whipping heavy cream and adding in condensed milk for a creamy sweetness.

Then blend in your matcha and let it freeze. It’s so simple!

For something a little more indulgent, try adding a swirl of that amazing chocolate ganache you made!

8. Gingerbread Cake

When served warm, this is such an irresistible dessert! It’s fabulous cold, too, of course!

Between the molasses and warm spices, it’s so comforting, and you’ll definitely reach for seconds!

I highly recommend making the vanilla sauce, too! Though a drizzle of salted caramel wouldn’t be out of place either.

9. The Best Grasshopper Pie

Grasshopper pie might not sound too appetizing, but the mint-flavored creamy filling is to die for.

You’ll need crème de menthe for this, giving you a subtle but pronounced mint flavor.

If you can’t find the green kind, no worries.

It will taste just as good, or you can add in some food coloring.

I think it looks best with the chocolate crust, but if you prefer graham crackers, go for it!

10. Grapefruit Sorbet Recipe

I have to admit that I’m not the biggest fan of grapefruit. It’s just a touch too bitter for my super sweet tooth to handle!

But this sorbet recipe is the perfect balance of sweet and tart, and the texture is just what you want.

If you don’t want it too tart, but don’t want to add extra sugar, try mixing your flavors and adding some strawberries.

The color will be gorgeous, too!

11. Guava Empanadas

I’m a huge fan of guava with its pear-strawberry flavor and stunning, deep pink coloring.

It’s so under-used over here, so I’m hoping you’ll give this one a try!

Guava paste is available in most grocery stores these days, and it’s so easy to use.

You could also use a guava jam, or try making your own!

If you don’t like the paste so concentrated, just blend it with the cream cheese for a more mellow taste overall.

12. Gumdrops Recipe

Most people don’t even think about making their own candies because it usually involves boiling sugar and some kitchen magic.

When you see how easy this is, you’ll make candy left and right!

You’ll need sugar, applesauce, Jello, gelatin, and lemon juice – that’s it!

Keep it simple and make a tray to cut, or why not get some cute silicone molds and make fun shapes?

13. Grapefruit Tart

This tart is covered in stunning grapefruit slices for a delicate and colorful finish.

Again, I know grapefruit can be a touch sour, but the filling is a heavenly mascarpone mix that will balance it out just right.

And you can even add a layer of sweet jam underneath if you want extra sugar.

Or try dusting it with sugar once it’s cooled and using a chef’s torch to caramelize it.

14. Guava Cream Cheese Tart

This tart looks sensational, and I adore the additional crumble layered over the top.

It gives terrific texture and hides any uneven fruit slices on top!

My one note for this would be to add a bit of guava paste or jam to the bottom of the tart.

In my opinion, it needs a bit of a kick to get that lovely flavor to the front.

15. Easiest-Ever Grape Popsicles

Here’s another great summer option for those looking to cut back on sugar, but keep up with the cold treats!

We all love popsicles, but those that aren’t full of sugar and additives tend to be expensive.

So why not make your own? You’ll just need a popsicle mold and some grapes!

I especially love this recipe because it has a mix of red and green grapes, making them super cute and flavorful.

16. Greek Yogurt Coffee Cake

Greek yogurt is lower in fat and calories than sour cream but is bursting with protein and will make your cakes beautifully moist.

You can even use vanilla yogurt if you want to add some extra flavor!

Be sure to check on this after about 45 minutes, as most ovens vary.

After that, check every 5 minutes or so to avoid over-baking.

17. Golden Oreo Truffles

My one issue with cake pops is that you have to take time to make the cake, let it cool, and then mix it all up to create your pops.

But these Oreo truffles let you skip right ahead!

Be sure to blitz them – creme and all – and then add your cream cheese until it’s thick and will hold its shape.

These are so much faster than cake pops and will give you the same flavor and texture!

You can even make a mix of regular Oreos, too.

18. Christmas Genoa Cake

Genoa cake is a lighter alternative to the more rich and intense Christmas treats you’ll see on the table over the holidays.

Instead of using treacle/molasses and brown sugar, it’s more of a vanilla cake with white sugar and butter.

Not only is it lighter, but it’s also delightfully fruity.

You’ll need cherries, pineapple, dried apricots, and sultanas, or make up a nice blend of your own.

I always recommend soaking your sultanas (or raisins) in tea or something boozy for added flavor.

When baked, it gets an apricot jam glaze to make it shiny and sweet.

19. Easy Gingerbread Fudge

There are many fudge recipes out there calling for thermometers and hours (ok, minutes) of heavy beating with a wooden spoon.

Not this one! You’ll just need to melt and blend the white chocolate chips, condensed milk, molasses, and butter before adding vanilla and spices.

Once it’s combined and smooth, pour it in a baking tray and let it set.

If you like a bit of texture with your fudge, try crumbling some of those crispy gingerbread cookies over the top before it sets.

20. Greek Yogurt Sugar Cookies

We add sour cream to recipes because it adds fat, which makes your baking rich and moist.

Greek yogurt does all of that with fewer calories – win-win!

These cookies are insanely soft and will melt in your mouth. I swear you’ll have a hard time stopping at just one (or three!).

21. Homemade Golden Oreo Cookies

Like everyone else, I’m a big Oreo lover. But sometimes, I just crave those golden cookies and their delicate vanilla flavor.

Believe it or not, they don’t sell Oreos everywhere, and when I was living outside the USA, it was something I really missed. So this recipe was a lifesaver!

I like to make a big batch and dip half in chocolate for some added flair.
