For this list, I’ve compiled a list of 10 of my favorite Jimmy Dean sausage recipes, and these are the good ones – not just fried sausage on a plate.
I mean, I love fried sausage, but there’s so much more that you can do with Jimmy Dean sausage than that.
Whether you want to chop it up and add it to gravy, use it as a pizza topping, or add it to a quiche, Jimmy Dean sausage is the way to go.
It’s juicy, flavorful, and comes in a wide variety of spiciness levels, so you’re all set if you like mild or hot sausage.
Now, let’s get to it and check out these 10 Jimmy Dean sausage recipes.
1. Creamy Sausage Gravy
People are always raving about Hardee’s sausage gravy, and it makes me wonder if they really don’t realize how simple it is to make.
All it takes is a bit of vegetable oil and four simple ingredients: sausage, flour, black pepper, and milk.
With this recipe, you can make the creamiest, tastiest sausage gravy imaginable.
And it only takes about 30 minutes. Of course, don’t forget to whip up some buttery, flaky biscuits to go with it!
2. Sausage Hash Brown Cups
These eight-ingredient hash brown cups make excellent appetizers, but you can also serve them for breakfast if you prefer.
The center of each one is a thick, juicy ball of Jimmy Dean’s sausage.
You’ll surround that with a coating made from hash browns, olive oil, sharp cheddar, eggs, chives, salt, and pepper.
It takes 10 minutes to prepare them and get them on the baking sheet.
After that, you’ll just need to bake them for 45 minutes. They’re a cheesy, meaty treat that everyone will love.
3. Sausage Quiche
If you’re looking for something new to help spice up your breakfast routine, give this cheesy sausage quiche a try.
It’s similar to the sausage hash brown cups, but on a much larger scale. Plus, there are no hash browns in this one.
There is, however, sausage, cheese, eggs, milk, green onions, and baking mix.
You can jazz it up to suit your specific tastes by adding toppings like chopped tomatoes, parsley, and more.
Sometimes, I even add sour cream, bacon crumbles, more green onions, and mushrooms.
That’s the beauty of a quiche. You can tweak it to fit any flavors you like.
4. Sausage Veggie Casserole
Sausage veggie casseroles are another hearty breakfast option that’ll keep you full for hours.
They combine plenty of filling protein, nutrient-rich veggies, and yummy cheese for an all-in-one meal that the whole family should enjoy.
This particular casserole includes sausage, onions, hash browns, broccoli, tomatoes, cheddar cheese, eggs, milk, and salt and pepper for taste.
Just like the quiche above, you can also add other things that you like in your breakfast casseroles, including spinach, mushrooms, olives, bell peppers, bacon, or green onions.
5. Sausage Cheese Soup
This creamy, garlicky soup is thick, full of succulent chunks of sausage, and has a rich, earthy flavor from the cumin, beer, garlic, and onions.
It’s unbelievably cheesy and gives you a ton of that down-home comfort feeling when you eat it.
The consistency – and to a lesser extent – the flavor will remind you of sausage Rotel dip.
However, you won’t find any tomatoes or Rotel in this recipe unless you add them yourself.
Still, if you’re looking for a rich, tummy-warming meal, this soup works well for that.
Serve it with dark, crusty bread or a leafy green side salad for extra yumminess.
6. Sausage Sloppy Joes
I’ll be honest, I had never considered turning sausage into sloppy Joes until I ran across this recipe (or one similar to it) a couple of years ago.
But once I tried it, I was hooked.
It has the same fantastic flavor of traditional sloppy Joes, thanks primarily to the sauce, which you’ll make from tomato, Worcestershire, and chili sauces, and brown sugar.
However, the sausage has a much denser, thicker consistency that leaves you feeling even more satisfied than a “regular” sloppy Joe.
If you eat chips or fries with this one, it’s just because you want to, as you certainly won’t need the extra carbs to get full.
7. Sausage Bolognese
Sausage bolognese uses more ingredients than any other recipe on the list, and it takes a bit of time to make.
You might be asking yourself then, “Why should I bother with it?”
Simple. Because it’s incredible. It has the perfect consistency that’s somehow rich, creamy, and chunky all at the same time, and is set off by the addition of red wine.
The meat is expertly seasoned and very filling, and you’ll get new flavors to explore with every bite you take.
The pasta is soft and tender, too, but it’s more of an afterthought.
With this particular dish, it’s all about the sauce.
8. Cheesy Stuffed Sausage Pasta Bake
Everything you need to know about this 45-minute meal is right there in the name: It’s supremely cheesy (ricotta, mozzarella, and Parmesan) and contains plenty of pasta and sausage.
The parsley, salt, and Italian seasoning give the dish plenty of flavor, and they’ll make your house smell amazing while you’re baking this dish in the oven.
If you want to pull together a full-fledged Italian meal in the comfort of your (probably) non-Italian home, this easy pasta bake is the way to do that.
9. Sausage Combo Pizza
You didn’t think I forgot about sausage as a pizza topping, did you?! Of course not!
You can’t have a list of Jimmy Dean sausage recipes and not include at least one pizza.
This sausage combo pizza combines sausage crumbles, tomato and basil pasta sauce, mushrooms, green bell peppers, onions, black olives, mozzarella cheese, and more.
The result is a homemade meat-and-veggie pizza that will rival any you get from your favorite pizza delivery restaurant.
10. Sausage Lover’s Dip
Because most people are familiar with sausage Rotel dip, I decided to add a different one to this list: the sausage lover’s dip.
It uses only six simple ingredients – sausage, condensed cheddar cheese soup, diced tomatoes with green chiles, cream cheese, cheddar, and green onions – to make an exquisitely flavored dip.
It’s thick and chunky, so be careful serving it as an appetizer, as you might fill up on it more quickly than you realize.
Serve it with chips, veggie sticks, crackers, or toasted baguettes.
Bonus Recipe: Jimmy Dean Sausage Balls
Okay, I know I said 10 recipes. But I just had to include my new favorite snack!
These bite-sized sausage meatballs are tender, savory, and loaded with cheese. And they’re a cinch to make.
You’ll add onion, garlic, and baking mix (Bisquick) instead of boring old breadcrumbs, which makes them super moist and flavorful.
Serve them with spicy aioli, BBQ sauce, or even your morning pancakes!
