If you’re living a vegan or vegetarian lifestyle, then you’ll love these plant-based snacks.
Whether you’re into fruits, veggies, nuts, or something else, plant-based snacks can help you sate your sweet, savory, salty, and even spicy cravings.
This list of fantastic plant-based snacks has 30 great options from which you can choose. Plenty of them are familiar favorites like fruit salad and guacamole.
Others are less common but still equally delicious. So whatever you’re in the mood for, sit back, relax, and keep reading to find it.
1. Chocolate Chip Banana Squares
Just because something is plant-based doesn’t mean it can’t also be full of chocolate; these chocolate chip banana squares are proof of that!
They’re thick, chewy, and taste like fresh bananas and chocolate chips. Yummy!
2. Ants on a Log
You can make ants on a log with all kinds of things – jumbo pretzel sticks, bananas, or even toast – but if you’re looking for a healthy, plant-based option, use celery.
Then, top it with rich, creamy peanut butter and a few tart-and-tangy raisins to add even more flavor to the already flavorful dish.
3. Banana Chips
Dried, crunchy banana chips are a treat, but when you realize they require only two ingredients – bananas and lemon juice – and take practically no effort, they’re even better.
If you can slice bananas, toss them in juice, and stick them in the oven for a few hours, flipping occasionally, you’ll be able to whip these up with no problem.
4. Popcorn
You can make a ton of this light, airy, and crunchy popcorn in under 15 minutes with only six ingredients: yeast, garlic powder, salt, coconut oil, and popcorn kernels.
If you want, you can adjust the seasonings; add garlic powder, ranch, vegan cheese, or anything else you like! This quick and easy popcorn is the real deal.
5. Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie
Vegan-friendly and completely tasty, this peanut butter banana smoothie is the stuff. It requires only four ingredients and no more than 5 minutes to make.
Toss everything in the blender and hit the button.
That’s all it takes to be out the door and enjoying a delicious morning smoothie with practically no effort on your part.
6. Trail Mix
There are tons of great recipes out there for trail mix, but if you’re like me and need the perfect balance of salty, sweet, crunchy, and soft this recipe is the one you’ll want.
All you’ll need are raisins, peanuts, M&Ms, and sunflower seeds. Mix them well, and every handful will be superb.
7. Coconut Chips
If you’re looking for a great, keto-friendly alternative for potato chips, try coconut chips. They’re insanely easy to make.
You can make plain coconut chips, which are sweet, coconut-flavored, and as salty as you make them, or you can add different seasonings for more savory, salty, or spicy flavors.
8. Kale Chips
Kale chips are another excellent potato chip replacement for those on low-carb diets. They’re crunchy, salty, and delicious.
They aren’t precisely potato chips, but they could be the next best thing.
9. Apple Chips
If possible, these apple chips are even easier to make than the kale chips! (You’ll make them both in the air fryer, though, so neither is difficult.)
These are perfect for fall – slightly sweet, cinnamon-flavored, and full of apple goodness.
10. Fruit Salad
If you’re looking for a plant-based snack that’s more sweet than savory, you’ll have to try this 15-minute fruit salad.
It’s so light, refreshing, and sweet that you could serve it as dessert.
(Spoiler alert: I top it with whipped cream and serve it as dessert a lot.)
You can vary the fruit however you want, but the recipe is nicely balanced as-is.
It combines strawberries, peaches, blueberries, chopped mint, lemon juice, honey, and balsamic vinegar.
It’s super yummy, and there’s just a hint of tartness to it that makes it really unbeatable.
11. Hummus
Good hummus is velvety smooth, creamy, and deceptively full of flavor. The hummus you’ll make using this recipe is spectacular hummus.
It’s thick, herby, and has that wonderful nutty taste that all the best hummus has.
12. Vegan Rice Krispie Treats
At first glance, you’ll probably notice these Rice Krispie treats are darker than the traditional variety because you’ll make them with vegan, gluten-free brown rice crisp cereal.
You’ll also add maple syrup and almond butter, so every ingredient is natural, vegan-friendly, and reasonably healthy!
There are no added sugars or artificial ingredients, either.
And in case you’re wondering if all those “healthy” ingredients affect the taste, yes, they do. These are slightly nuttier than the “original” Rice Krispie treats.
They’re still crunchy and scrumptious, though.
13. Edamame
Behind the fun name – edamame! – is a 15-minute snack that’s salty, earthy, and incredible.
Basically, edamame is a bowl of salted, boiled soybeans. And it’s the perfect healthy snack.
14. Guacamole
If you’re enjoying guacamole, it might as well be the best guacamole, and the best guacamole comes from Chipotle!
(Or at least from this copycat Chipotle recipe.)
It’s thick, creamy, and just a bit spicy. It also has chunks of red onion and a delightfully fresh cilantro aftertaste. As I said, it’s the best.
15. Apple Sandwich
I have no idea why it took discovering this recipe to realize that apple sandwiches would be fantastic.
Slices of sweetly tart apples covered in peanut butter and piled high with raisins and granola — what’s not to love?!
They’re crunchy, sweet, tart, and pretty good for you, too!
I can’t believe it took me so long to try them.
16. Fruit Kabobs
I’ve made these every year at Christmas for the last five or six years, and no one ever gets tired of them. I love them, too, because they’re so simple to make.
There’s no cooking involved, just some slicing and assembling things on a kabob. The green grape goes on first as the Grinch’s head.
Top it with a banana slice, strawberry, and mini-marshmallow for an almost authentic-looking Santa hat! It’s adorable.
You’ll want to make these pretty close to the time you’re serving them.
Additionally, you’ll still want to dip the banana slices in lemon juice before assembling them.
Doing these two things will help keep your bananas from turning brown and looking gross by the time you lay them out on the table.
Alternatively, you could slice a full-size marshmallow into smaller, banana slice-size pieces and use those for the bottom of the hat instead.
That’ll eliminate the browning banana problem.
17. Potato Chips
I’ve given you a ton of potato chip alternatives to check out, but what if you’re craving the real thing?
Well, as you know, potatoes are also plant-based, so you’re in luck!
You can make crispy, salty, any-flavor-you-like potato chips in the comfort of your own kitchen.
Plus, you can do it in about 10 minutes in the microwave! It doesn’t get much easier than that.
18. Fried Apples
Cracker Barrel makes amazing fried apples. They’re soft, tender, and sweet, but they still retain a tiny bit of their initial tartness, as well.
With this recipe, you can make those same incredible fried apples. They’ll take less than an hour to cook and only use six ingredients.
They’ll also make your kitchen smell phenomenal.
19. Vegan Spinach Dip
Spinach dip is creamy and delicious and is one of my all-time favorite dip options. If you’re looking for a vegan-friendly alternative, this recipe is perfect.
It uses most of the same ingredients as the original recipe, but you’ll use vegan cream cheese and vegan mayo.
Believe it or not, it doesn’t affect the flavor that much at all.
20. Pinwheels
Making pinwheels vegan-friendly is super simple.
Leave out the meat and cheese (or buy vegan cheese) and use vegan mayo or another vegan-friendly condiment to help hold them together.
These pinwheels are excellent. The tortilla wraps are soft and chewy, but the spinach and other veggies are crisp and crunchy.
You can adjust the vegetables however you like, but the bell peppers and carrots add the most crunch, so I’d leave this unless you really don’t care for them.
21. Date Bars
Everyone I know loves date bars because they somehow manage to be crunchy and chewy at the same time.
They’re also sweet, slightly nutty, and scrumptious and have marvelous oatmeal crusts and date fillings.
Finally, they’re easy to make, and that’s always a plus in every cook’s book.
22. Vegan Banana Muffins
These banana muffins are soft and moist, and they have the most wonderfully fluffy but dense and filling insides.
I make mine with walnuts instead of chocolate chips, but both taste great.
Making them with walnuts gives them a bit of crunch and makes them taste like banana nut bread, only not quite as dry.
Additionally, you can whip up more than a dozen of these in just a little over half an hour. They’re ideal for breakfast or a mid-day snack.
23. Spiced Pear Chips
They may take an hour to make, but these delectable pear chips take only 2 minutes to prepare, and the oven will do the rest.
They’re spicy, cinnamon-flavored, and yummy, all in equal measure.
24. Almond Butter Stuffed Dates
If you haven’t gotten on board with dates yet, now’s your chance!
You’ll stuff each one with almond butter, raw coconut, raw cacao nibs, and smoked salt.
The result is a nutty, smoky, fruity delight that even the most extreme date haters can appreciate.
25. Pretzels
These warm, chewy pretzels are exceptionally soft, unbelievably buttery, and perfectly salty. They have lovely golden-brown crusts and fluffy, white centers.
Whether you serve them with hot cheese or chocolate sauce or eat them plain, each bite is better than the last. Oh! And they’re vegan-friendly!
26. Apple Butter
There’s nothing more delicious on a hot buttered biscuit than rich, spicy apple butter.
It takes a while to cook, but the slow cooker does most of the work, so that’s okay.
Furthermore, you’ll only need five ingredients to make it: apples, sugar, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
The cinnamon and cloves smell amazing, and your whole house will be heavenly while it’s cooking.
If you’re looking for the perfect biscuit or toast topper, you can’t beat apple butter.
27. Almond Flour Crackers
You can make these crunchy, fiber-filled crackers with only four ingredients, and they taste great with everything.
You can crumble them up in your soup, smear them with peanut butter, or dip them in hummus. Either way, you won’t be disappointed.
28. Sour Candy Frozen Grapes
Growing up doesn’t necessarily mean growing out of some of your more kid-like habits or addictions, like your love of super sour hard candies.
Unfortunately, all those artificial ingredients and added sugars aren’t as easy on the waistline as we’d like.
These sour candy grapes make an excellent alternative, however.
They’re fruity and face-puckering sour, and you’ll make them with only three all-natural ingredients: grapes, limes, and monk fruit sweetener.
29. Key Lime Pie Bites
These tart and tangy Key lime pie bites are awesome, vegan-friendly, gluten-free, and require only five ingredients.
They taste just like a Key lime pie, but they’re much healthier.
They’re also easy to make and convenient to eat while on the go.
30. Peanut Butter Cookies
These decadent, chewy cookies taste just like the ones your gramma used to make for you. The only difference is that these are 100% vegan-friendly.
You won’t know it from their look, taste, or texture, though, and that’s just how I like it!
