30 Deliciously Sweet Breakfast Recipes
I’m a firm believer in something sweet for breakfast. It’s just such a nice way to start the day.
Sure, overnight oats are sensible and filling breakfast, and eggs are always recommended.
But don’t we all go weak in the knees at the sight of French toast? How about a big stack of thick pancakes dripping with syrup?
If breakfast really is the most important meal of the day, shouldn’t it also be the tastiest? I think so, too.
And I know you’ll love these sweet breakfast recipes.
1. Bisquick Cinnamon Rolls Recipe (with Glaze!)
I don’t always have the time to make and proof a batch of cinnamon rolls.
As good as they are, it’s often easier to go out and buy the pre-made container!
This recipe changes all that!
The texture is a little different, but they are full of spice and smothered in the glaze.
As far as cheat recipes go, this is the one to try.
2. French Toast Casserole
I prefer a French toast casserole to regular French toast for three reasons.
One: you can (and should) make it the night before, saving yourself any work in the morning.
Two: leaving it to sit will allow the custard to soak into the bread for the most fantastic flavor and texture.
Three: it’s so easy to modify! Just throw in some raisins, chocolate chips, or dried fruit for something a little different.
And the streusel topping takes it to another level!
3. Easy Apple Cream Cheese Strudel
I know I’m not the only one eyeing all those gorgeous pastries at the local coffee shop.
Though they may look extravagant, they’re often relatively easy to make at home.
Frozen pastry has come a long way, and provided you let it thaw out, you’ll wind up with a nice, buttery texture.
When it comes to fillings, I love this apple and sweet cream cheese option, but any pie filling would work. Chocolate would be delicious, too!
4. White Chocolate Raspberry Scones
These might just be too pretty to eat.
White chocolate and raspberry are a match made in heaven, and when mixed into these tender and fluffy scones, you’ll never go plain again.
Freezing the butter is key to the flaky crumb, but cold butter will also work.
When working it into the flour, mix until it looks like breadcrumbs and very gently add in the rest of the ingredients.
Over-mixing is the reason for dense scones, so try to use a light touch.
I like to pull mine from the bowl just before everything is incorporated and finish bringing the dough together on the table.
5. Perkins Pancake Recipe
These Perkins pancakes are tough to beat!
The key to fluffy pancakes is not to over-work the batter.
Gently stir the ingredients until mostly smooth, and then let the batter rest for at least half an hour, if you can.
I actually like to make a batch and keep it in the fridge overnight for use the next morning.
You can even make a double batch and freeze half for a quick mid-week pick-me-up.
6. Nutella French Toast Roll-Ups
These roll-ups are super cute and so fun to make.
Once rolled and fried, they get covered in cinnamon sugar for a slightly crisp and sweet edge.
Serve with syrup and plenty of napkins!
7. Strawberries and Cream Coffee Cake with Vanilla Cream Cheese Glaze
Every element of this cake is delicious, and when combined, it makes for such a pretty start to your day.
The cake could not be easier to make!
Throw everything into a bowl and mix until smooth! That’s it!
The strawberries add such a sweet and subtle flavor, or use cherries for an extra boost.
The glaze might seem decadent for breakfast, but you’re worth it!
8. IHOP French Toast Recipe (Copycat)
Ever wondered how IHOP makes their French toast so good?
They use two key things: flour and lots of butter.
They add flour to their custard mix, making it almost batter-like. When fried, it makes all the difference.
As for the butter? Almost every chef I know will tell you that they cook everything in extra butter.
9. Cranberry Sweet Rolls
Not only are these super vibrant, but they are also full of tart cranberries and the softest sweet dough around.
These are pretty special and deserve the extra time required with the double-proofing.
Although, I do think the topping would suit those Bisquick cinnamon rolls perfectly!
10. Bacon Maple Monkey Bread
Monkey bread is already pretty indulgent.
So adding maple and bacon will definitely knock your socks off.
The salty-sweet combo is everything you’ll want for breakfast, and the cinnamon bites are tender and warm.
Be sure to take it out of the mold while it’s still warm to prevent anything from sticking.
11. Peaches and Cream Muffins
When it comes to anything peach related, I almost always turn to Queen Paula for a recipe.
These peaches and cream muffins do not disappoint.
All you need are six ingredients, and they can be ready to serve in just 20 minutes.
12. Paleo Pumpkin Pancakes
If you didn’t catch my list of pumpkin desserts, you might not know how deep my love for the fall-favorite goes.
Well, it goes pretty far!
And these pumpkin pancakes are everything I could ask for in a sweet breakfast recipe.
Make extra, because you’ll probably be wanting these for lunch, too.
13. Chocolate Dutch Baby
If you’ve never tried a Dutch baby before, now is your chance!
You’ll need an oven-proof skillet, as you’ll be transferring it from the stovetop to the oven.
For the batter, simply blend everything until smooth.
Serve with a nice dollop of whipped cream and some fresh strawberries.
14. Chocolate Smoothie with Hazelnuts
I love starting a warm day off with a smoothie. They’re fast, healthy, and can be consumed on the go.
This chocolate and hazelnut recipe incorporates bananas, too, so it’s not entirely sinful.
If you have chocolate protein powder, that can be used in place of the cocoa for an added nutrient boost.
15. Banana Chocolate Chunk Muffins
Banana muffins might just be my biggest vice.
In fact, I make them so rarely because they just don’t last!
But if you do, make sure your bananas are brown and super-ripe for maximum flavor.
16. Easy 15-Minute Chocolate Glazed Donuts
Using biscuit dough for donuts might seem a bit odd, but once they’re fried and glazed, you can hardly tell the difference.
You can make rings and mini-donut holes, as seen in the pictures.
Or, you could make donut rounds and fill them with marshmallow fluff before adding the glaze.
Either way, they’re ready in just 15 minutes.
17. Eggnog Waffles
This recipe isn’t just for the holidays!
Adding eggnog to the waffle batter will not only give a wonderfully creamy flavor it also adds a fantastic festive spice.
Make these on a cold Sunday morning when you can enjoy them with the entire family.
18. Chocolate Chip Pancakes
Chocolate chip pancakes might just be the perfect breakfast food.
Filling, sweet, and so tasty, they’re beloved by everyone.
I like to use mini-chocolate chips, so they spread throughout the whole batter.
Although, chopping up a bar of dark chocolate would add pockets of rich chocolate flavor that will ooze out when you cut in.
19. S’mores French Toast
As if French toast wasn’t already decadent enough!
You’ll be adding Nutella and marshmallows for this recipe, so get ready for a sugar high!
I would suggest using very thick white bread for this and don’t forget to let it dry out overnight. The staler, the better!
20. Carrot Cake Oatmeal
I’ve always been a firm believer that carrot cake was made for breakfast.
Carrots, nuts, raisins, and cream cheese? How is that not a healthy and filling start to the day?
This might not have a cream cheese frosting, but it does have everything you love about carrot cake mixed into heart-healthy oats.
Serve it hot with plenty of brown sugar and butter.
21. Nutella Crepes with Strawberries
Crepes are absolutely delicious and perfect for lazy Sundays.
But let’s be honest; they can take a little time to make.
I like to have a plate warming in the oven. As I finish one, it goes onto the pile and stays warm as I finish up the batter.
Be sure to keep them nice and thin, and don’t be shy with the Nutella.
22. Breakfast Cookies
Yes, you read that right.
These oat-based cookies are loaded with all kinds of amazing and healthy ingredients and are just what you need for a quick, on-the-go treat.
Bananas are used for moisture and flavor, along with nut butter, maple syrup, dried fruits, and seeds.
You can switch out the extras to your liking, though the craisins give a nice pop of color.
23. Mars Bar Chocolate Loaf Cake
Ok, so I might be reaching with this one…
Chocolate cake covered in a chocolate and caramel glaze isn’t what we all think of when it comes to breakfast.
But once you’ve tried just one sliver of this incredibly moist and rich cake, you won’t be able to resist.
24. Swedish Coffee Cake
Crumb cake is just one of those things we all love with a nice cup of something warm.
I especially like this Swedish version that uses whipped egg whites for a super-light and airy crumb.
Although the lemon adds a nice touch of citrus, I think I would go for orange next time and maybe a couple of chocolate chips, too.
25. No-Bake Chocolate Chip Breakfast Balls
I had you at “no-bake,” right?
Energy balls are such a fun breakfast option and are usually loaded with goodness to keep you going until lunch.
Well, these will satisfy even the pickiest of eaters.
Peanut butter, oats, and chocolate chips are the base for these, and you can have them ready in just 10 minutes.
26. Healthy Brownie Granola Bars
I know “healthy” and “brownies” aren’t words we usually see together.
And truth be told, these aren’t the fudgy, gooey slices of heaven we all know and love.
But since it’s breakfast, and you’re probably not quite awake just yet, I think we’ll get away with it.
These are rich, dense, super moist, and have a fantastic crunch.
I would recommend toasting the nuts if you have the time. It really does enhance the flavor.
27. Make-Ahead Blueberry Banana Breakfast Parfaits
Want to make simple breakfast cereal recipes taste better?
Believe it or not, if you add yogurt and serve it in a glass jar, it’ll taste downright decadent.
We eat with our eyes, after all!
And I love the inclusion of Cheerios in this! My biggest issue with overnight oats is often the texture (or lack thereof).
But these are creamy, fruity, and crisp in each and every bite.
28. Starbucks Pumpkin Bread Copycat Recipe
As much as I hate to admit defeat, I’ve yet to find a better recipe than this Starbucks pumpkin bread.
The spice level is perfect, and it’s so moist. It will last for days!
Be gentle when mixing, and keep an eye on it toward the end of the bake.
I like to serve mine with a small drizzle of salted caramel.
29. Lemon Cream Pie Overnight Oats
Adding lemon to a cream-based oat mix might sound like a recipe for disaster, but I promise, it works.
Though, I did find that I needed the vanilla almond milk to balance the zest of the citrus.
And the almond extract is a must! It adds something so special. (Just be sure to follow the amount listed, as it can be powerful.)
30. Bailey’s Irish Cream Pancakes
Bailey’s is one of those drinks I only tend to indulge in over the holidays.
Creamy, sweet, and wonderfully warming, it is seriously irresistible.
This recipe isn’t one for the kids, but if you feel the need to treat yourself, you won’t be sorry.
And how about adding some Irish Cream Caramel over the top? If you’re going to treat yourself, why not go all out?
