What to Eat with Coffee (Morning, Noon, or Night)

Cup of Creamy Coffee

Whether it’s espresso, latte, or cappuccino, a hot cup of coffee is sure to brighten up your day. It’s not just a breakfast drink, either – you can have it any time of the day!

While it’s nice to enjoy coffee on its own, it’s so much better with a companion. And today, I’ve got 16 wonderful coffee pairings for you.

Not only are these foods hearty and delightful, but they’ll also put a smile on your face!

Coffee Cake

1. Coffee Cake

Coffee on coffee? Why not! Coffee cakes are sweet, soft, pillowy, and give you that extra boost to pump you up in the morning.

Whether you eat it on the side of your coffee or dunk it into your drink, you can’t go wrong. This double dose of coffee goodness is perfect for when you’re feeling extra indulgent.

Glazed Donuts

2. Donuts

This one is for the sweet tooths out there! There’s a reason coffee and donuts are such an iconic pair: they taste ridiculously good together.

True, eating donuts for breakfast isn’t the healthiest idea. But, admit it, there’s nothing like dunking that sugar-glazed donut into a hot cuppa Joe.

And it’s not like you’re doing this daily, right? Have this sinful pair on a day where you’re in dire need of a pick me up and enjoy!

Bagel

3. Bagels

Another breakfast staple that pairs wonderfully well with coffee. I love how dipping a bagel into coffee makes it so much softer and easier to chew. They truly are the perfect pair.

Whether it’s a sweet or savory bagel, on its own or with toppings, it will taste even better alongside a warm cup of coffee.

Dark Chocolate

4. Dark Chocolate

This is the perfect pair when you want something sweet and comforting. If you’ve never tried it, now’s the perfect time. The slight bitterness and sweetness of dark chocolate enhance the flavor of coffee beautifully.

You know what I love to do with my dark chocolate? I dilute a few chunks of them into my coffee for a lovely cafe mocha.

The sweetness, the decadence! If you can’t decide between a hot cocoa or coffee, this one’s for you.

Scrambled Eggs

5. Scrambled Eggs

You don’t need anything fancy-schmancy for a hearty and satisfying breakfast. Scrambled eggs and coffee are more than enough to fill you up and prepare you for the day ahead.

I’m sure you have your own version of making the fluffiest, creamiest scrambled eggs out there. But why not try a few new recipes for a change?

There are so many options out there, including those of Gordon Ramsay, Martha Stewart, and even Trisha Yearwood.

Ham and Cheese Crepes

6. Crepes

But, if you’re in the mood for a fancy breakfast, how about something French? Crepes are just like pancakes but thinner and are wonderful vessels for either sweet or savory fillings.

Whether it’s filled with blueberry jam or ham and cheese, coffee will always pair perfectly with crepes.

Waffles and Pancakes

7. Waffles and Pancakes

Next up are two breakfast staples that are always a huge hit in my household: waffles and pancakes. They’re sweet, fluffy, and smell amazing.

You can top them off with sweet syrup, bananas, butter, or bacon. And when you have it in the morning with a hot cup of coffee?  Phenomenal.

Tiramisu

8. Tiramisu

Here’s another sweet dish that’s great for dessert or your afternoon snack: tiramisu and coffee. Tiramisu has espresso in it, so its flavor blends well with coffee. It’s a guaranteed hit!

Peanut Butter Banana Sandwich

9. Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich

Ahh, peanut butter and bananas. Whoever came up with the idea of combining these two items and turning them into a sandwich filling is pure genius.

And, if you have it with coffee? Oh my, it’s pure bliss.

Banana Nut Bread

10. Banana Nut Bread

And speaking of bananas, how about a sweet banana nut bread? It’s soft, moist, and oh so delightful.

Just imagine yourself munching on a slice and sipping on a cup of coffee early in the morning – doesn’t that sound absolutely fantastic?

Bisquick Blueberry Muffin

11. Muffins

Muffins are another quick bread that’s sure to satisfy that hunger!  But, whether it’s a sweet blueberry or a savory cheese muffin, it will not taste nearly as good without coffee.

So, when you get a muffin or two from your favorite bakery, don’t forget to order a cup of java.

Reuben Sandwich

12. Savory Sandwiches

Looking for a lunch time combo? Savory sandwiches with coffee make a fantastic pair!

Whether it’s filled with ham, salami, sausages, or corned beef, a savory sandwich with a hot cuppa will never disappoint.

Not in the mood for anything meaty? How about a grilled cheese sandwich? It’s crisp, rich, savory, and tastes significantly better when paired with coffee.

Chocolate Cappuccino Cheesecake

13. Chocolate Cake

Don’t judge me, but this one is my personal favorite. There’s just something about chocolate and coffee that makes them an amazing pair!

If you’re like me, sweeten up your afternoon with a rich and indulgent chocolate cake. And then, sip some hot coffee to round out that delightful treat.

Biscotti

14. Biscotti

Biscotti is the ultimate coffee pairing. You can’t have biscotti without coffee. You just can’t.

Biscotti doesn’t just yearn for coffee, it needs it. Without coffee, you’ll just get a super tough cookie! But, if you let that biscuit soak up that aromatic liquid, every bite will be utter bliss.

Bacon

15. Bacon

Because who in the world can say no to bacon? I certainly can’t, even when I’m on a diet!

Bacon already tastes terrific on its own, but pairing it with coffee will give you complementing flavors that are just too good not to try.

Brownies

16. Brownies

This is one of my favorite treats to have after lunch or dinner. Just imagine: a warm, fudgy brownie while sipping on a creamy cup of coffee. It’s the perfect end to a long day.
